The Lodge Room is the best mid-size music venue in Northeast Los Angeles
The Lodge Room is at 3122 N Figueroa Street in Highland Park, in a 1920s Masonic lodge building that was converted into a music venue in 2017. It seats about 500 and stands more. The room is beautiful in the way that only old buildings with good bones are beautiful, the wood floors, the vaulted ceilings, the balcony that wraps the room.
The booking calendar skews indie rock, folk, Americana, and the kind of artist that fills a 500-capacity room with people who have been waiting for the album to come out. It is not a bar venue, people come for the shows. The sound system is excellent. The sight lines are good from everywhere in the room.
What to do around it: dinner at El Huarache Azteca (5225 York Blvd) before the show, it is a five-minute drive. After the show: Highland Park Bowl (5621 N Figueroa St) if you can get there before last call. The bowling alley is on the same street as the Lodge Room and the combination of a great show followed by a cocktail in a 1927 room is the best possible Highland Park evening.
