Highland Park Bowl is the best thing on Figueroa Street
April 2026
The Highland Park Bowl at 5621 N Figueroa Street is the oldest bowling alley in Los Angeles. It opened in 1927. Restored to its original bones, the wood lanes, the art deco architecture, the room that knows it's been somewhere, and now operating as a bowling alley and full bar and restaurant that is better than it has any right to be.
The cocktails are serious. The wood-fired pizza is good. The lanes are beautiful. You don't have to bowl. You can just sit at the bar and drink cocktails in a room from 1927. This is the only place in Northeast Los Angeles where you can get a properly made mezcal cocktail while watching someone bowl a strike in a room that Babe Ruth theoretically could have sat in.
