Cass McCombs plays the Lodge Room this Friday — here's the full night
Cass McCombs is one of the more quietly essential figures in American indie rock, a California songwriter who has been releasing records since 2002 without ever quite fitting into a category, which is exactly why people who find him tend to stay found. He plays the Lodge Room (104 N Ave 56) on Friday April 10 with Hand Habits opening. Doors at 7, show at 8.
The Lodge Room is the right room for this. 500 capacity, the 1920s Masonic lodge bones, sound system that makes a guitar and voice land correctly. Hand Habits, Meg Duffy's project, is genuinely worth being there for the opening set.
The night sequence: Dinner at El Huarache Azteca (5225 York Blvd) before the show, the huarache, 30 minutes, done. Get to the Lodge Room by 7:15 for a good spot on the floor. After: Highland Park Bowl (5621 N Figueroa St) for a cocktail in the 1927 room. Tickets at lodgeroomhlp.com.
