best bars in los feliz

April 2026

Los Feliz has always done bars a little differently. No bottle service, no velvet ropes. Just good wine, lived-in rooms, and the kind of regulars who actually know each other's names. Whether you're after a glass of natural Beaujolais or a stiff classic cocktail with some jazz in the background, this neighborhood delivers.

Here are the bars worth knowing.

Bar Covell · 4628 Hollywood Blvd · 4.7★
This is the one. A long, narrow wine bar with no printed menu, just a chalkboard that changes constantly and a staff that genuinely loves talking you through it. The rotating wine-by-the-glass list leans natural, with bottles from producers you probably haven't heard of yet. Come on a weeknight if you want an actual seat. Weekends fill up fast and the room gets cozy quickly. Street parking on Hollywood Blvd is hit or miss; try the side streets off Rodney.

The Dresden Restaurant & Lounge · 1760 N Vermont Ave · 4.6★
A true Los Feliz institution. Marty and Elayne have been playing jazz here since 1982, yes, really, and the room looks like it hasn't changed much since. That's a compliment. Order a classic cocktail, settle into a booth, and let the whole thing wash over you. They play Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are smart for dinner, but you can usually slide into the lounge side for drinks without one.

Lou Wine Shop & Tastings · 1911 Hillhurst Ave · 4.8★
Lou is technically a wine shop, but the tasting side of things is the real draw. Small, unhurried, with staff who'll point you toward something unexpected without making you feel like you should already know it. Great spot for a low-key date or a solo glass before dinner. Pick up a bottle to go while you're at it.

Big Bar · 1927 Hillhurst Ave · 4.6★
Attached to Alcove Cafe, Big Bar has one of the better patios on Hillhurst, string lights, a little garden feel, nice on a warm evening. The cocktail list is creative without being precious. Good for groups. If you're coming with more than four people, call ahead. Parking in the lot behind the building is your best bet.

Home Restaurant · 1760 Hillhurst Ave · 4.5★
The bar at Home doesn't get talked about enough. The room feels like someone's actual living room, comfortable, a little worn in, welcoming. The cocktail program is solid and the patio is one of the better outdoor drinking spots on Hillhurst. Brunch cocktails here on a Sunday are a reliable move.

Alcove · 1929 Hillhurst Ave · 4.5★
Primarily a cafe, but the Sunday morning mimosa situation on the patio is worth mentioning. Casual, sunny, good for a long slow morning that turns into early afternoon. Not a late-night spot, but a great way to start a drinking day the right way.

Cap N' Cork Junior Market · 1674 Hillhurst Ave · 4.6★
A neighborhood bottle shop with a laid-back bar component. Unassuming from the outside, genuinely warm inside. Good for picking up something interesting to drink on your own terms. The kind of place you walk into for one thing and end up staying longer than planned.

Palermo Italian Restaurant · 1858 N Vermont Ave · 4.7★
More restaurant than bar, but the cocktail menu holds up and the vibe on the patio with live music is something else entirely. A good option if your group can't agree on whether they want drinks or dinner, here, you don't have to choose.

A few practical notes: Los Feliz bars tend to fill up Thursday through Saturday after 9pm. Vermont Ave and Hillhurst Ave are the two main corridors, most of these spots are within a short walk of each other, so bar-hopping on foot is genuinely easy. Metered street parking is your friend on weeknights. On weekends, give yourself an extra ten minutes.

This neighborhood rewards slowing down. Pick one end of Hillhurst or Vermont, start early, and see where the evening takes you.
