Best Restaurants in Echo Park
Echo Park has always eaten well. From late-night taco trucks to plant-forward bistros and smoky BBQ patios, this neighborhood feeds people with a kind of no-fuss generosity you don't find everywhere in LA. Here's where to go, and what to order when you get there.
Roots and Rye · 2134 W Sunset Blvd · 4.8★
One of the highest-rated spots in the neighborhood, and it earns it. The patio is the move here, grab a seat on a weeknight before it fills up. The menu is focused and confident, the kind of place where you order more than you planned and don't regret it. Street parking on Sunset can be tight; try the side streets just north.
Blue Corn Quesadilla Lady · 4.8★
No permanent address, no frills, no problem. She sets up near Echo Park Lake and she is not to be missed. Cash only, always fresh, always worth the wait. If you spot her, stop. This is the kind of thing that makes Echo Park, Echo Park.
Taco Zone · 1342 N Alvarado St · 4.6★
Late-night tacos done right. The al pastor comes off a spinning trompo and lands on a fresh tortilla with onion and cilantro. Open late, priced low, beloved hard. Go after 10pm when the neighborhood shows up and the line is part of the experience. A true Echo Park institution.
El Flamin' Taco · 2028 W Sunset Blvd · 4.5★
The patio here is a casual hangout in the best sense, picnic table energy, strong horchata, solid carne asada. Great for groups. Lunch on a sunny afternoon is the ideal scenario. Parking is easier here than further west on Sunset.
Sage Vegan Bistro · 1700 W Sunset Blvd · 4.5★
Don't sleep on this one even if you're not vegan. The kitchen takes plant-based cooking seriously and the results are genuinely satisfying, rich, layered flavors that feel like a full meal. Brunch draws a crowd on weekends. Come early or expect a wait.
Baby Blues BBQ · 1901 W Sunset Blvd · 4.6★
Low and slow, right on Sunset. The ribs are the reason people come back, but the sides, cornbread, mac, collard greens, hold their own. Big patio out back, good for groups, takes reservations. It's the kind of place that smells like dinner from half a block away.
Masa of Echo Park Bakery & Cafe · 1800 W Sunset Blvd · 4.6★
Part neighborhood cafe, part deep-dish pizza destination. Yes, deep-dish in Echo Park, and it works. The patio faces Sunset and catches good afternoon light. They do cocktails too, and take reservations, making it one of the more versatile spots in the neighborhood for a sit-down meal.
Reggie's Deli and Cafe · 1910 W Sunset Blvd · 4.6★
Brunch on the patio at Reggie's feels like the neighborhood at its most relaxed. Sandwiches are built with care, coffee is solid, and the vibe is genuinely unhurried. Go on a Sunday morning before the rest of the block wakes up. Groups welcome.
Kien Giang Bakery · 1471 Echo Park Ave · 4.8★
A neighborhood gem with one of the highest ratings in Echo Park. Vietnamese baked goods, savory rolls, and pastries that disappear fast. Get here early, the good stuff goes. Prices are as low as they come and the quality punches way above that. This is a local staple worth every bit of its 4.8.
A Few More Worth Your Time
Bar Flores at 1641 Echo Park Ave is the spot for mezcal cocktails in an outdoor garden that feels like it belongs in Oaxaca. Weekend evenings, definitely make a reservation. Sticky Rice Echo Park at 1801 W Sunset Blvd blurs the line between wine bar and restaurant in the best way, live music some nights, a thoughtful drinks list, and a patio that fills up fast. Stories Books & Cafe at 1716 W Sunset Blvd is an independent bookstore with an in-house cafe, which means you can order a coffee and browse shelves for an hour without anyone rushing you out.
Getting Around
Most of the action runs along W Sunset Blvd between Alvarado and just past Mohawk. Street parking exists but moves fast on weekends. Echo Park Ave spots tend to be easier. If you're coming from Silver Lake or Downtown, the neighborhood is walkable once you're in it, park once and eat twice.
Echo Park's restaurant scene rewards the curious. The best meals here don't always have the biggest signs or the loudest Instagram presence. Walk the block, follow the smell, trust the 4.8 stars on a bakery that's been quietly feeding the neighborhood for years.
