best brunch spots in echo park

April 2026

Echo Park has always done brunch a little differently. It's not about bottomless mimosas and two-hour waits. It's neighborhood regulars on patios, strong coffee, and the kind of food that actually gets you out of bed on a Sunday. Here's where to go.

Roots and Rye · 2134 W Sunset Blvd · 4.8★

This is the one locals keep to themselves. Roots and Rye sits on Sunset with a patio that catches the morning light just right. The kitchen takes brunch seriously, expect thoughtful plates, good coffee, and the kind of relaxed energy that makes you stay longer than planned. Get here early on weekends or expect a short wait. Worth it either way.

Reggie's Deli and Cafe · 1910 W Sunset Blvd · 4.6★

Reggie's is the neighborhood's no-fuss brunch anchor. It's a patio spot, a group spot, a this-is-exactly-what-I-needed spot. The menu is straightforward and satisfying. Good for families, good for a slow Saturday with friends. Street parking on W Sunset can be tight, try the side streets just north.

Masa of Echo Park Bakery & Cafe · 1800 W Sunset Blvd · 4.6★

Masa is doing double duty as one of the best cafes and one of the best brunch spots on this stretch of Sunset. The patio is shaded and comfortable. They do cocktails if you're in that mood. Reservations are available and worth grabbing for groups. The baked goods alone are reason enough to show up before noon.

Kien Giang Bakery · 1471 Echo Park Ave · 4.8★

Not brunch in the traditional sense, better. Kien Giang is a beloved Echo Park institution with a 4.8 rating that speaks for itself. Come early for fresh pastries and Vietnamese baked goods that'll rearrange your morning priorities. Cash-friendly, neighborhood-priced, and always busy for good reason.

Sage Vegan Bistro · 1700 W Sunset Blvd · 4.5★

For the plant-based crowd, or anyone who just wants something a little lighter, Sage delivers. The brunch menu is creative without being precious. Sunset Blvd has decent metered parking; arrive before 10am and you'll have an easier time of it.

Stories Books & Cafe · 1716 W Sunset Blvd · 4.5★

An independent bookstore with an in-house cafe. Grab something from the counter, find a table near the shelves, and let the morning stretch out. It's not a full brunch menu, but as a first stop before or after a bigger meal, it's one of the best vibes in the neighborhood. The kind of place Echo Park does better than almost anywhere else in LA.

Andante Coffee Roasters · 2201 W Sunset Blvd · 4.6★

If the plan is coffee first, everything else second, Andante is your anchor. Serious roasters, no frills, good light inside. Pair it with a pastry from Kien Giang down the street and you've got a perfect slow morning on your hands.

Tierra Mia Coffee · 1202 N Alvarado St · 4.6★

A Latin-owned coffee mini-chain that earns its loyal following. The horchata latte is the move. Patio seating and a relaxed vibe make it a solid brunch warm-up spot, especially if you're heading to Echo Park Lake afterward. It shares the block with Lemon Frog at the same address, so the whole corner has good energy on weekend mornings.

After brunch: walk to the lake

Echo Park Lake at 751 Echo Park Ave is right there. Pedal boats on the water, lotus flowers in summer, the downtown skyline in the background. It's the best possible way to end a late morning in this neighborhood. Free to wander, small fee for the boats. Go before it gets too hot.

A note on parking: W Sunset Blvd is the main corridor and street parking fills up fast after 10am on weekends. Echo Park Ave and the surrounding residential streets are your best bet. A few spots have metered lots nearby, check the signage and you'll be fine.
