A perfect night out in Eagle Rock
Park once, walk everywhere. That's the move in Eagle Rock. Find street parking along Colorado Blvd between Caspar and Figueroa around 6pm, it opens up right around then, and just leave the car there all night.
Start at Permanent Records (1906 Cypress Ave), one block off Colorado. Flip through the vinyl, grab a cold beer from the tap while you do it. There's no rush here. It's $1 cans sometimes, always good vibes. Give yourself 30–45 minutes minimum.
Walk back to Colorado and head west a few blocks to La Sorted's (1827 Colorado Blvd) if you need to line your stomach. It's an Italian deli, order the spicy coppa sandwich. Small spot, eat outside. Perfect.
Now the real night begins. Head a few minutes east to Western Bottle Shop and Bar (2305 Colorado Blvd) for your first proper drink. The selection is genuinely impressive, ask whoever's working what's interesting right now. They'll have an answer.
Walk another five minutes down to Colorado Bar (2640 Colorado Blvd) and settle in. This is a true dive, sticky rail, cash-friendly, no pretense. Order a well drink. Talk to the person next to you. This bar rewards staying a while.
When you're ready to move, backtrack west to Capri Club (4604 Eagle Rock Blvd) for a nightcap. The negroni menu is the move, they do variations that are actually interesting, not just gimmicky. The room is dark and warm and plays good music. Italian-American small plates if you're hungry again.
End the night however you want, but the right answer is checking what's on at Vidiots (4884 Eagle Rock Blvd) before you go. It's a repertory theater with a bar inside, late screenings happen. If something's playing, that's your perfect closer. Walk in, get a drink, watch a movie with strangers who also love movies. That's Eagle Rock at its best.
