Wine & Eggs is Atwater Village's most charming errand

Some shops sell groceries. Wine & Eggs, on Glendale Blvd in Atwater Village, sells the feeling of being a person who has their life together: a tidy, sunlit market where the wine is chosen with opinions, the pantry staples are the pretty versions, and yes, there are very good eggs.

The name is the curation philosophy. This is where you stop on the way to a friend's place for a bottle that will get asked about, tinned fish that turns into a whole conversation, and produce and provisions that make a simple dinner feel intentional. It is open from morning into the evening, which makes it equally good as a coffee-hour browse or a 7pm save.

Atwater Village does this kind of small, personal retail better than almost any neighborhood in LA, and Wine & Eggs has become one of its anchors: the shop visitors get walked to, the gift that locals give each other. The 4.6 rating undersells how much affection the neighborhood has for the place.

The move: go without a list, leave with exactly four things, and feel great about all of them.
