Holy Basil Atwater is the best Thai on the eastside right now

Holy Basil at its Atwater Village location, off Glendale Boulevard in Northeast Los Angeles, opened in 2024 and was immediately named the best Thai restaurant in Los Angeles by Eater. Chefs Deau and Joy, both Bangkok natives, built their reputation through a DTLA takeout window that people drove across the city for. The Atwater Village sit-down is better.

Wagyu grapow with savory heat that stays on you. Crispy pork belly with skin that shatters like a potato chip. Wild shrimp aguachile. Beef tataki. Eight bar seats, a handful of tables. Dinner needs a reservation. Lunch is more manageable.
