best pizza, tacos, and cheap eats in atwater village

April 2026

Atwater Village doesn't have a flashy food scene. It has a real one. The kind where regulars know the staff by name, nobody's waiting 90 minutes for a table, and the food actually delivers. If you're hunting for great pizza, proper tacos, and meals that won't wreck your wallet, this stretch of Glendale Blvd has you covered.

Here's where locals actually eat.

Pizza

Hail Mary, 3219 Glendale Blvd
This is the neighborhood pizza spot, full stop. Hail Mary earns its 4.6★ rating by doing things simply and doing them right. The pies are crispy-edged and generously topped, the craft cocktails are legitimately good, and the patio fills up fast on weekends. Go for brunch if you want a more laid-back experience, yes, they do brunch pizza, and yes, you should order it. Street parking on Glendale is usually findable before noon; after that, circle the side streets.

Tacos

Rio Frio, 3400 Glendale Blvd
Street-style tacos at the north end of the strip. The carne asada here is the move, properly charred, simply dressed, the kind of taco that doesn't need explanation. Prices are exactly what you want them to be. Come hungry, come casual. This is not a reservation kind of place. It's a pull-up-and-eat kind of place, which is honestly better.

Cheap Eats Worth Knowing

Baby Battista, 3111 Glendale Blvd
A 4.8★ rating on a neighborhood Italian spot means something. Classic spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmigiana, this is red-sauce comfort food that doesn't apologize for being exactly what it is. Portions are generous. The room feels like it's been there forever, in the best way. Come early on weeknights to snag a table without a wait.

Bill's Liquor & Deli, 3150 Glendale Blvd
Don't sleep on this one. Bill's is a Atwater institution, part bottle shop, part deli counter, entirely unpretentious. The sandwiches are cheap, the cold drinks are cold, and the vibe is pure neighborhood. It's the kind of place you stop into once and start coming back to weekly.

Dune, Glendale Blvd
Not tacos, not pizza, but if you want a cheap, satisfying lunch that goes a little sideways from the usual, Dune's falafel and shakshuka (on weekends) hit the spot. Middle Eastern-leaning, casual, and priced fairly. The weekend shakshuka has become something of a local ritual.

A Note on the Sunday Farmers Market

Atwater Village Farmers Market, Glendale Blvd, Sundays
Before you sit down anywhere, it's worth swinging through the Sunday market. Artisan bread vendors, fresh produce, baked goods, it's a good way to spend a slow morning and pick up something to take home. Pairs well with a coffee from Proof Bakery at 3156 Glendale Blvd, where the croissants and seasonal tartines make for one of the better cheap breakfasts in the neighborhood.

The Short List

If someone hands you this neighborhood and says pick three: Hail Mary for pizza, Rio Frio for tacos, Baby Battista for a sit-down dinner that won't hurt. Everything else on this list is bonus material, and in Atwater, there's a lot of bonus material worth exploring.
