The ideal Saturday afternoon in Silver Lake

April 2026

Park once on Sunset near Dayglow (3206 W Sunset Blvd), there's usually street parking on the north side around Maltman. Plan to be there by noon and you're set for the whole afternoon on foot.

12:00pm, Coffee first. Walk into Dayglow and order the single-origin espresso drink. The space is small and very pretty. Don't rush it. This is your reset button before the day gets good.

12:30pm, Snack and browse. Head two blocks east to FrankieLucy Bakeshop (3116 W Sunset Blvd). Grab whatever's in the case, the pastries move fast on Saturdays for a reason. Then keep walking to Gogosha Optique (3208 1/2 W Sunset Blvd) next door. You probably don't need new glasses. You might leave wanting new glasses.

1:00pm, Lunch at Azizam. Keep going east to 2943 Sunset Blvd. Get the Persian-inspired seasonal dishes, whatever they're running that day is the right answer. It's a dollar-sign spot that eats like a splurge. Tiny, warm, no attitude.

2:15pm, Walk it off at the reservoir. Head down to Silver Lake Dog Park at 1850 W Silver Lake Dr. You don't need a dog. Walk the loop around the water, take in the hills, decompress. This is the part of the afternoon people forget to plan for and always love most.

3:15pm, Vinyl detour. Loop back up toward Sunset and stop into Vacation Vinyl at 3815 Sunset Blvd. Used and new, well-organized, genuinely good staff picks section. Budget 30 minutes minimum.

4:00pm, Cheese board pit stop. The Cheese Store of Silver Lake is right nearby at 3926 Sunset Blvd. Ask them to put together a small charcuterie board to go, or just taste everything they offer you. Either way you're winning.

5:00pm, First drink of the day. Walk west to Bacari at 3626 W Sunset Blvd. Grab a patio table before the early evening crowd arrives. Order wine, order small plates, stay longer than you meant to. They sometimes have live music, if they do, don't leave.

7:00pm, Nightcap at Black Cat. End the night two doors down at Black Cat (3909 W Sunset Blvd). Cold beer, good jukebox energy, no pretense. Perfect closer for a day that already gave you everything.

The whole thing is basically one long Sunset Blvd walk with a reservoir detour in the middle. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a tote bag for the vinyl and cheese.
