best bars in glassell park

April 2026

Glassell Park doesn't have a sprawling bar scene, and honestly, that's the point. What it has is a handful of genuinely good spots where people actually know each other, the drinks are priced fairly, and nobody's trying too hard. Whether you want cold beer on a patio or a thoughtful glass of natural wine, here's where to go.

Verdugo Bar · 3408 Verdugo Rd
This is the one. Verdugo Bar sits at a slight bend in Verdugo Road and has been quietly anchoring the neighborhood's social life for years. The back patio with string lights is the move on a warm evening, and in Glassell Park, that's most evenings. Grab a beer from the solid tap list, find a picnic table, and plan on staying longer than you meant to. Cash-friendly, dog-friendly energy. Parking on Verdugo can be tight on weekends; try the side streets off Verdugo just north of the bar. Rated 4.5★ by locals who keep coming back.

Wife and the Somm · 3416 Verdugo Rd
Just two doors up from Verdugo Bar, yes, really, Wife and the Somm is the neighborhood's wine answer. The list skews natural and interesting without being intimidating. The patio is small and lovely. They do brunch too, which means a weekend afternoon here can stretch into evening without anyone complaining. Reservations are smart on weekends. Rated 4.6★.

Glassell Park Improvement Club · 3108 Glendale Blvd
The name is historic and so is the vibe. The GPIC is a genuine neighborhood dive, cold beer on draft and by the bottle, no fuss, no DJ, no velvet rope. It shares a building address with Dunsmoor, one of LA's better wood-fired restaurants, which means you can eat exceptionally well and then walk directly into a no-frills bar like a functional adult. Rated 4.4★. Go on a weeknight if you want elbow room.

La Fuente · 2256 Colorado Blvd
La Fuente sits a little further west along Colorado and feels like the kind of bar that's been there forever, because it has. The margaritas are cold and honest. The beer list doesn't require a PhD. It's the kind of place you end up at after tacos from one of the nearby trucks and realize you should have come sooner. Rated 4.4★. Parking lot on site, which is a genuine gift in this part of the city.

A note on Little Ripper Coffee · 4155 Verdugo Rd
Technically a cafe, but Little Ripper does cocktails and has a patio that earns its place on any list of great places to sit with a drink in Glassell Park. If you're doing a Sunday afternoon and want something that bridges brunch and bar, this is your spot. Rated 4.6★.

The honest truth about drinking in Glassell Park is that the neighborhood rewards the unhurried. None of these places are trying to be anything other than what they are. Show up, order something cold, and let the evening go where it wants to go.
