Koreatown has no shortage of coffee shops. There are chains from Seoul with matcha einspanners and mugwort lattes. There are third-wave roasters with single-origin pour-overs and latte art competitions. There are places where the interior design is the product and the coffee is a prop for your Instagram story. And then there is Hanok, on 6th Street, which has chosen a different path: be quiet, be good, let people sit.
The name comes from the traditional Korean house, the hanok, which is built around the idea of harmony between architecture and nature, between interior and exterior space, between the people inside and the world outside. The cafe carries that philosophy into its design. Korean cafe aesthetic, clean and warm, the kind of space where the absence of noise is itself a feature. You come here to drink coffee.
